THE SHORT ANSWER

SolarFlex® by IrisPro is organised into three categories. SFF is a 0.8 mm Polyglass Film for exterior window-glass and skylight lamination with UV and solar-heat rejection. SFH is a 3–10 mm+ Polyglass Sheet for skylights and buildings. SFA is a 2–32 mm+ Plexiglass Sheet for automotive sunroofs, helicopter canopies, cruise vessels, selected windows and glass houses.

01What is the difference between SolarFlex Polyglass and Plexiglass?

SolarFlex Polyglass is made from Polycarbonate and prioritises lower weight, impact performance and shatter resistance. Plexiglass prioritises high optical clarity and greater surface scratch resistance, making it more suitable for selected home-window applications.

02What is the difference between SFF, SFH and SFA?

SFF is a 0.8 mm Polyglass Film for exterior lamination on existing window glass and skylights, with UV and solar-heat rejection. SFH is a rigid 3–10 mm+ Polyglass Sheet for buildings and skylights. SFA is a 2–32 mm+ Plexiglass Sheet for automotive sunroofs, helicopters, cruise vessels and selected windows.

03Why is the 0.8 mm system installed externally?

For some exposed façades and rooftop glazing, the solar load must be addressed at the outer surface. It also provides an option where only external access or application is suitable.

04Can SolarFlex replace conventional glass?

Polyglass can be evaluated as a replacement for selected applications because it combines lower weight, solar control and safety characteristics. Final use requires project-specific structural, fire, optical and regulatory assessment.

05Can SolarFlex create Low-E performance?

SolarFlex can form part of a hybrid glazing assembly intended to improve solar and thermal performance. Project-specific SHGC, U-value, safety and compliance targets should be tested and specified by the project team rather than assumed from the material alone.

06What performance does SolarFlex claim?

The supplied SolarFlex material states up to 99% infrared rejection and 99% ultraviolet rejection for selected organic-glass configurations. Exact performance depends on the product, thickness and completed glazing assembly.

07Why use SFA Plexiglass Sheet for helicopters, sunroofs and marine vessels?

SFA Plexiglass Sheet can be produced from 2 mm to 32 mm+ for automotive and specialised transport glazing. It offers a high-clarity, lighter and more impact-resistant alternative to conventional glass together with UV and solar-heat rejection, making it suitable for evaluation in automotive sunroofs, helicopter and eVTOL canopies, ships and cruise-vessel glazing. Final use requires project-specific engineering, testing and regulatory certification.

08Can SFA Plexiglass Sheet replace window glass?

SFA Plexiglass Sheet can be considered for selected home windows because it combines high optical clarity, heat and UV rejection, useful daylight and greater surface scratch resistance than Polyglass. Final suitability depends on thickness, panel size, frame, opening, exposure and applicable building requirements.

09Is SFA Plexiglass Sheet suitable for a glass house?

SFA Plexiglass Sheet can be considered for selected glass houses, garden rooms and conservatories where high clarity, lower weight, heat rejection and UV protection are important. The final thickness and assembly must be matched to panel size, framing, span, wind load, thermal expansion, weather exposure and applicable building requirements.
